I signed up for an event where the speaker was supposed to talk about why we build more and fail more when it comes to monetization I'm right in the middle of being late because this morning traffic is heavy and people seem helpless if they could observe themselves at this hour rushing to their work or other mandated places the ambulance sirens wake me up from my drifting thoughts I notice other cars ahead moving like turtles and try to free up the ambulance lane there is a Chinese couple standing in front of a near-highway establishment that reeks of sex a hooker or a cleaner my mind jumps to a conclusion she has a black mask on her face, he has puffy eyes they're both in their phones the gas station has a weird abbreviation for diesel I read DIES 710 I re-read again to ensure I'm not being too existential it's DIES no 710 people have to die due to a grammar mistake I protest (it's childish) I notice the same ambulance it's parked near the main road now for a moment I imagine the patient stepping out of it and silently walking down the highway I'm amazed at the pace at which our physical world is going to shit we're still building perfect virtual realities look at this home with no windows I can smell the fresh air after the rain for the first time in such a long time I'm surprised I make it to the event after all it's still on I have no interest left in me I rush for my morning coffee
